DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE HIV/AIDS PREVENTION PROGRAM ZDF PARTNERSHIP FOR SUSTAINABLE HIV EPIDEMIC CONTROL PROJECT DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) seeks a dynamic and highly experienced candidate for the Director of Strategic Information position for a DHAPP-funded HIV Epidemic Control proposal, titled “Department of Defense HIV/AIDS Prevention Program ZDF Partnership for Sustainable HIV Epidemic Control” in Zambia. The Program will aim to support Zambia to reach sustainable control of the HIV/AIDS epidemic through the pillars of transparency, accountability, and impact. Should JSI be the successful bidder, this will be a full-time position based in Lusaka, Zambia. The Program Director will report to the JSI home office Senior Advisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Director is responsible for overseeing project implementation, providing the technical vision and approach and managing the project team and consortium members. S/he will:
Provide overall technical and management leadership and financial oversight.
Serve as the project’s primary liaison with the GRZ including DFZ and MOH, DoD, JSI headquarters (HQ), other donors, and multilateral and INGO partners.
Monitor annual work plans and monitoring and evaluation plan to ensure that the project is meeting goals and analyze and resolve reasons for any delays; and
Supervise Senior Management Team (SMT) to reach project objectives.
A medical or master’s degree or higher in public health, social sciences, or a related field;
At least 10 years of progressively increasing responsibility in managing comprehensive and complex international development assistance on HIV or health programs;
Knowledge of and experience with PEPFAR/U.S. Government-funded (USG)-funded programs and policies;
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior level government officials, donors, private for-profit and non-profit sectors; and
Experience interacting with host country governments and counterparts, and international donor agencies.
