Young Women’s Christian Association of Zambia
1.0 BACKGROUND
The Young Women’s Christian Association of Zambia is a Christian, Membership, Non-partisan, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to the Empowerment of the Community especially women, youth and children, to realize their potential as human beings and contribute to a just society, through rights based and sustainable interventions. YWCA has been implementing safe spaces under the Global Programme for Ending Child Marriage with support from United Nations Population Fund UNFPA). The project aims at reducing teen pregnancies and child marriage. YWCA is seeking to engage a consultant to revise/update the lifeskills curriculum that it uses under the safe space intervention.
2.0 OVERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE CONSULTANCY
The overall objective of the consultancy is to revise/update the YWCA lifeskills curriculum that is being used to conduct safe space interventions.
3.0 SCOPE OF THE WORK
The consultant is expected to undertake the following:
- Review the YWCA Lifeskills Curriculum and identify areas in which the curriculum can be strengthened
- Conduct desk review of similar curriculum and identify issues that are relevant for inclusion in the YWCA Lifeskills curriculum.
- Develop an updated YWCA Lifeskills curriculum with identified gaps addressed and relevant issues adapted from reviewed curriculums incorporated.
4.0 DELIVERABLES
- Inception report clearly outlining the methodology to be used.
- Revised and updated training curriculum with feedback on the draft report incorporated.
5.0 DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The consultancy should be undertaken within a period of fifteen (15) working days commencing 15th March, 2020.
6.0 SUPERVISION
The overall supervisor of this assignment will be the Executive
7.0 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in social sciences, public health or any related field
- Over 10 years’ experience in conducting similar work
- Good report writing skills
- Good understanding of human rights, adolescent sexual and reproductive health issues, lifeskills and financial literacy and entrepreneurship
- Conversant with application of cross cutting themes like HRBA, M&E, Advocacy and child protection to programming.
- Experience working with vulnerable adolescents and young people
- Experience in development of training curriculum
- Computer literacy
- Good spoken and written communication skills in English.
- Excellent research, analytical and report writing skills.
8. BID REQUIREMENTS
Consultants who meet the requirements should submit a maximum of 10 pages expression of interest, which should include the following:
i. A suitability statement, including commitment to availability for the entire assignment.
ii. A brief statement on the proposed methodology including a detailed work plan.
iii. A detailed financial proposal, including daily cost per major activity.
iv. Summarised Curriculum Vitae clearly outlining the consultants’ qualifications and experience (Maximum 3 pages).
v. Contacts of 3 organizations that have recently contracted the consultant to carry out a similar assignment.
