KSM MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT, the largest HR firm in Zambia recently acquired GOZAMBIAJOBS.CO.ZM, becoming the largest recruitment platform in the country is now actively looking to recruit for an Environmental Engineer on behalf of our Client in the engineering industry.
ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER
The suitable candidate will be responsible for ensuring environmental compliance and promoting safe operational practices within the copper processing plant. The role will focus on monitoring environmental impact, conducting safety and environmental inspections, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting sustainable operational practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct weekly environmental inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
• Prepare and submit inspection and compliance reports in line with regulatory requirements.
• Collect and analyze water samples from nearby streams to test parameters such as total dissolved solids and turbidity.
• Monitor stack emissions to determine pollutant concentrations released into the atmosphere and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
• Conduct daily safety talks (toolbox meetings) with casual workers to promote safety awareness before commencement of activities.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to casual workers under the Safety and Environment department to ensure efficient operations.
• Inspect and monitor casual workers to ensure assigned tasks and daily operational targets are achieved.
• Ensure proper waste management by monitoring segregation and storage of waste in designated bins before disposal.
• Maintain accurate environmental and safety records through proper filing and organization of reports for easy retrieval.
• Support the department in administrative tasks including requesting and managing petty cash for minor operational expenses.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Must be EIZ Certified.
• 1–3 years’ experience in environmental management, preferably within the mining or processing industry.
• Knowledge of environmental monitoring, compliance standards and regulatory reporting.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and organizational skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work in an industrial or plant environment.
