KSM MANAGEMENT CONSULTANTS, the largest HR firm in Zambia recently acquired GOZAMBIAJOBS.CO.ZM, becoming the largest recruitment platform in the country. We are recruiting for a Health and Safety Officer on behalf of our client in the Mining industry.
HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER
The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment at the mine site. He/She will be involved in implementing health and safety policies, conducting inspections, ensuring compliance with mining regulations, investigating incidents, and providing safety training to employees and contractors.
KEY RESPONSBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Ensure compliance with mining safety regulations, company policies, and statutory requirements.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments across the mine site.
- Monitor safe working practices and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist in developing and implementing health and safety procedures and policies.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and prepare detailed reports.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
- Maintain accurate incident and safety records.
- Conduct safety inductions for new employees and contractors.
- Organize toolbox talks and safety awareness campaigns.
- Train employees on emergency procedures, hazard identification, and safe work practices.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports.
- Monitor compliance with safety standards and recommend improvements.
- Participate in safety audits and inspections.
- Promote occupational health standards and hygiene practices.
- Monitor workplace hazards including dust, noise, vibration, and hazardous substances.
- Support environmental protection initiatives on site.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Mining Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience in a mining or construction environment.
- Knowledge of mining safety regulations and standards.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.
