Job Description
The LOGISTIC SUPERVISOR Provides support for the implementation of logistics policies and processes by participating in planning/ coordinating the movement of cement products and/ or materials between the Plant and approved areas. Design and implement operational systems for managing operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To supervise work schedules, monitor and appraise staff performance
- Enforce insurance compliance for goods in transit for all third-party logistics and transport providers.
- Records management, keeping records electronically in the ERP (enterprise resource planner system) such as uplift reports, attendance, service records, invoices, and payment records for transporters and service providers.
- Enforce health and safety standards and measures during and post COVID 19 relaxation of measures.
- Manage leave application monthly and performance scorecard for bonuses.
- Maintain and update diesel records for owner-operated fleet
- Enforce disciplinary code and ethics among office staff and drivers.
- Negotiating contracts and recruiting new third-party transporters.
- Monitor vehicle expenses such as repairs& maintenance costs and ensure they are minimized.
- Resolving disputes regarding damage of cement, delay or late delivery of cement and other products.
- Enforcing legal compliance and follow-up/pushing all court cases to the legal department for prosecution. Such as stolen cement, damaged cement and accidents
- Organize witnesses for legal proceedings and court cases
- Ensure that the company fleet of trucks is roadworthy and is compliant with all the legislation from RTSA (Road Transport and Safety Agency) & (RDA). such as identity fitness and road tax.
- Ensure fire safety by inspecting and training the team about fire prevention and emergency procedures
- Ensure customs compliance for all export trucks. Such as packing lists, road manifests, invoices, and certificates of origin.
- Requesting and collecting equipment for the office and trucks from the warehouse
- Negotiate and maintain moving average transportation rates and renegotiate when fuel prices change
- Plan and collaborate with staff on team building and improvement meetings and activities.
- Attending to drivers and departmental accidents.
- Being part of the recruitment process conducting interviews for drivers and Supervisors
- Follow up on the movement of vehicles using geo-tab, now I fleet, GPS.
- Ensure daily reports for all the Supervisors that outline work done for the day and work plan for tomorrow to be sent at the end of every shift
- Forecast and plan for peak season and ensure efficient delivery during the peak season.
Education & Experience
- Diploma/Degree in Transport and Logistics or related
- Minimum of 2 Years experience in a similar role
- Good written and communication skills
- Working knowledge of inventory management terminologies, methodologies, and approach
- Basic knowledge of system-based inventory management systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations, and legislations relating to the cement manufacturing industry
- Must be a member of ZAMBIA CHARTERED INSTITUTE FOR LOGISTICS AND TRANSPORT
