Job Description

KSM MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT, the largest HR firm in Zambia recently acquired GOZAMBIAJOBS.CO.ZM, becoming the largest recruitment platform in the country is now actively looking to recruit Multiple Positions on behalf of our client in the Construction Industry.

1. SITE ENGINEER
   Supervising on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and timelines. Coordinates contractors, monitors quality and safety standards, manages materials, and provides technical support to ensure successful project delivery.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Independent project management in the engineering department, including: project initiation, schedule control, quality assurance, safety management, design coordination, EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) management, and handover and completion management.
• Professional training and other work responsibilities: This includes attending position process and thematic training sessions organized by the company or the Road & Bridge Project Department, followed by summarizing and reviewing the training content; maintaining construction management logs, uploading them daily to the WhatsApp group, and responding to the comments from the supervising engineer.
• Work Review and Development: Attend weekly and monthly departmental meetings to summarize weekly/monthly performance and reinforce objectives; contribute to meeting minutes; actively enhance job-related knowledge and skills by participating in departmental and company training sessions, while sharing insights; assist the department manager in organizing training programs for both the department and the company.
• Archives management: At the end of each month, organize paper and electronic documents, take and collect personal and departmental work photos and videos, upload them to Yifang Cloud, and back up to the hard drive.
• Company policies: Learn, comply with, and implement all company regulations and procedures, including routine systems such as attendance, vehicle management, safety protocols, dormitory and office building administration, and 6S management.
• Actively assist the lead engineer in organizing and participating in team-building activities for departments, projects, and the company.
• Other tasks assigned by superiors.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIRMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree or above; Civil engineering, road and bridge engineering, or construction engineering and related fields.
• Proficient in mastering the technical specifications related to road and bridge engineering adopted in China and Zambia.
• Proficient in CAD, Office, PowerPoint, OA and other office software.

2. TEST ENGINEER
   Planning, executing and documenting tests to ensure products, systems, or software meet quality standards and specifications. Designs test cases, identifies defects, supports troubleshooting and works closely with development teams to resolve issues and improve performance, reliability, and compliance before release.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct independent trial management for the engineering department.
• Supervise the construction department to conduct pre-construction tests, ensuring 100% verification and approval of standard tests for all incoming materials, cement concrete mix ratios, and asphalt concrete mix ratios. Provide guidance and oversight for process tests, and endorse their results.
• Develop project testing management protocols, specifying testing specifications, test items, testing frequency, test reporting procedures, and test record forms, while improving the project testing ledger system.
• Conduct on-site and laboratory testing inspections in accordance with the project testing management regulations and inspection procedures.
• Oversee and manage the procurement, testing, and inspection of all raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished products for this project, with enhanced quality control of incoming materials and rigorous random sampling procedures.
• Issue test and inspection reports for each construction department, and promptly approve qualified projects; establish a record of unqualified tests and conduct timely follow-up and handling.
• Conduct internal quality acceptance for the project, retain the acceptance evaluation records, and participate in external completion acceptance and final acceptance.
• Professional training and other work tasks: This includes participating in position process and thematic training sessions organized by the company or the Road & Bridge Project Department, followed by summarizing and reviewing the training content; recording test data and uploading it to the WhatsApp group daily, with mandatory responses to the comments from the supervising engineer.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIRMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree or above; Civil engineering, road and bridge engineering or construction engineering and related fields.
• Proficient in the operational procedures and workflows outlined in the Road and Bridge Project Testing Management Guidelines;
• Proficient in mastering the technical specifications related to road and bridge engineering adopted in China and the project host country (such as the Southern African Specifications for Road and Bridge), with a preliminary understanding of FIDIC clauses and able to apply relevant knowledge to practical project management work

3. SURVEYING ENGINEER (ROAD & BRIDGE PROJECTS)
   The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accuracy of control points, layouts, elevations and construction measurements to support quality project delivery and compliance with technical specifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct re-measurement of control points for this project, supervise the construction department in maintaining permanent control points, verify the accuracy of construction department’s surveying and layout, review the compliance of surveying documentation, and report to the lead engineer.
• Participate in drafting the engineering survey plan and calibration cycle schedule for measuring instruments, monitor the implementation of survey management by project stakeholders, and report to the lead engineer.
• Inspect the qualifications of surveyors and calibration status of surveying instruments in the construction department (design department) according to regulatory requirements, ensure proper storage and maintenance of surveying instruments in the project management department, and report to the supervising engineer.
• Conduct re-measurement of control points for this project, supervise the construction department in maintaining permanent control points, verify the accuracy of construction department’s surveying and layout, review the compliance of surveying documentation, and report to the lead engineer.
• Responsible for the measurement verification throughout the entire construction process of this project to ensure that elevation and axis control remain error-free, achieving a 100% qualification rate. For non-compliant items, promptly require the construction department to address them on-site, document original data and rework procedures, and report to the supervising engineer.
• Prior to project commencement, conduct verification of control points (e.g., traverse points and leveling points) in design documentation, organize the addition, relocation, and correction of such points within the project scope, accurately document the verification results, and submit reports to the lead engineer.
• Review the self-inspection reports of sub-item engineering survey and layout by the construction department, and verify the positions of central and boundary stakes and elevation measurement results according to the contract specifications and procedures.
• Check and verify the surveying and layout work for the changed and additional works by the construction department, as well as the surveying content required when the quantity of the project changes.
• Check the accuracy of foundation layout by construction department, organize settlement and displacement observation, and verify the correctness of settlement observation report submitted by contractor.
• Attend on-site change meetings for subgrade replacement and elevation adjustments of structures, and conduct elevation re-measurement while collecting and preserving original survey data.
• Inspect the restoration alignment of the handover project by the construction department, verify the survey data, and organize re-survey as needed. Review the construction department’s survey report and report to the supervising engineer.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIRMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree or above; Measurement Engineering or Civil Engineering and related disciplines.
• Proficient in the operational procedures and workflows of all project management methodologies for road and bridge construction, including commencement, schedule, quality, and safety management.

4. SAFETY ENGINEER
   Developing and enforcing health and safety standards on site, conducting risk assessments and safety inspections, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Provides safety training, investigates incidents, and works closely with project teams to prevent accidents and promote a safe working environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate in establishing the EHS management system, ensure internal collaborating contractors strictly implement it, inspect their safety production system establishment, and report to the supervising engineer.
• Participate in the hazard identification work of this project and prepare preventive measures.
• Supervise and inspect the implementation of hazard identification by the construction unit.
• Review the corresponding form records and the preparation of preventive measures, and report to the principal engineer.
• Based on the environment of this project, in combination with Zambia’s safety management requirements and China’s work safety management measures, various safety assurance systems.
• Participate in the development and drills of emergency rescue plans for the project management department, supervise construction units in preparing and conducting emergency rescue plans, inspect the preparation and drills of these plans by construction units, and report to the chief engineer.
• Review the safety management system and special plans submitted by the construction department, provide corresponding feedback, and submit them to the chief engineer for approval.
• Ensure the contractor conducts safety and technical briefing, verify the briefing documentation, and report to the lead engineer.
• Participate in establishing the project safety education system and monitor the implementation of the construction unit’s safety education protocols (conduct monthly reviews of safety education documentation).
• Complete the signing of safety responsibility agreements for technical personnel and local employees on behalf of the project management department and assist construction units, then report to the lead engineer.
• Ensure the construction contractor establishes a pre-job safety training system, and review the implementation of this system along with the relevant documentation for pre-shift safety training.
• Formulate operating procedures for machinery and vehicles, inspect the implementation of these systems, and conduct preliminary reviews of the relevant regulations.
• Conduct daily inspections of the construction site to monitor the safety and civilized construction practices of the contractor, as well as potential hazards in on-site production safety.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIRMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering Management, Civil Engineering, or related fields.
• Possession of a Safety Officer or Registered Safety Engineer certification.
• 3 years or more of work experience as a safety engineer in bridge and road projects.
• Proficient in the operational content and workflows specified in the EHS Management Procedures for bridge and road projects.
