Job Description
ACCOUNTANT will be responsible in the management information system processing. They will manage the budget, prepare financial reports, and ensure that all financial transactions are conducted legally and ethically.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparation of Management Accounts every month including
Management reports for weekly and monthly meetings, financial analysis and variance Analysis
- Preparation, reconciliation, payment and submission of statutory reports to the following Bodies
– Bank Of Zambia
– Pensions And Insurance Authority
– Napsa
– Zambia Revenue Authority
– Nhima
– Workers Compensation Fund Control Board
- – PACRA
- Preparation of Risk Management, internal and external audit reports
- Prepares reports and documents covering accounting transactions for management review
- Monitors budget performance, expenditure control
- Liaising with Auditors to ensure completeness of reports and unqualified reports
- Treasury Management, liaising with management regarding Treasury Management and Investing excess funds into suitable and profitable investment vehicles
- Management of Debtors, preparation of reports and debt collections
- Management of creditors, preparation of reports and credit payments
- Manages invoicing procedures to collect money owed by clients/customers
- Updating of cash books, and effective cash flow Management
- Supervision of staff in the Accounts Department, Providing overall Leadership Of The Accounts Functions in the Institution
- Preparation of payroll and ensuring staff deductibles and payables are implemented in the Period in which they occur, including production of pay reports to staff.
- Maintaining a Fixed Asset register, control and Monitoring of Fixed Assets utilization
- Liaising with Administration with Regard Administration costs and Monitoring
- Budgeting and Budgetary control
- Performance appraisal Reports of staff In the Accounts Department and Demonstration Including Conducting the Actual appraisal
- Posting and Processing of Transactions to the Ledgers and must have Knowledge of Accounting Software
- Leading and motivation of staff in the accounts department and provision of overall Leadership
- Preparation of Statements on the Accounts of various Stakeholders, Key amongst them are Insurance Companies
- Strategic Planning including provision of feedback and Feedforward information to Management.
- Assist the Senior Finance Officer in managing all HR matters including contracts,

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting & finance/accounting or CA-Zambia /ACCA / CIMA or another relevant field
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in and in a microfinance will be an added advantage
- Valid membership with Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
